How do the new restrictions impact the property sector?

This is a constantly moving situation and Ballantynes are keen to keep our clients and customers up to date with the current state of play when it comes to the property sector.

The Scottish Government guidance, as of the 24th September 2020 confirms:

From 29 June 2020, all home moves are permitted, provided they can be carried out safely. This continues to be the case following the announcement of new measures to drive down the infection rate on 22 September 2020.

Members of the public are allowed to leave their homes in order to move home and undertake activities in connection with the purchase, sale, letting or rental of a residential property including:

  • Visiting estate or letting agents, developer sales offices or show homes
  • Viewing a residential property to look for a property to buy or rent
  • Preparing a residential property to move in
  • Moving home
  • Visiting a residential property to undertake any activities required for the rental or sale of that property

Ballantynes will continue to act in accordance to the Government guidance whilst also adhering to the NHS Scotland safety guidance. Ballantynes have created standard procedures to make sure all property viewings, valuations and inspections are completed in a safe manner to avoid risk.
